Augusta, GA — The Augusta Jewish Museum, in partnership with the Jewish Community Center and Federation of Augusta (JCCFA) and local congregations, will host a community-wide Yom HaShoah Holocaust Memorial Program on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at 6:45 p.m. at Adas Yeshurun Synagogue, 935 Johns Road in Augusta.
The program will honor the millions of lives lost in the Holocaust through memorial observances, music, and a special presentation titled “Childhood Interrupted: Holocaust Childhood – Wounds that Never Heal.” The presentation will be delivered by Robert Ratonyi, a speaker for the Georgia Commission on the Holocaust, who will share reflections on the lasting impact of the Holocaust on children who endured its horrors.
Yom HaShoah, also known as Holocaust Remembrance Day, is observed annually around the world to remember the six million Jews and millions of other victims murdered during the Holocaust. The Augusta program provides an opportunity for the local community to gather in remembrance, reflection, and education.
The evening will include memorial elements and music as participants come together to honor victims, recognize survivors, and ensure that the lessons of the Holocaust are never forgotten.
The program is presented collaboratively by the Augusta Jewish Museum, the Jewish Community Center and Federation of Augusta, Adas Yeshurun Synagogue, Congregation Children of Israel, Chabad of Augusta, and Adath Yeshurun Synagogue.
The event is open to the public, and community members of all backgrounds are encouraged to attend.
